So, what's glyphosate — and why does it matter?

 

Glyphosate is a herbicide that's commonly used on conventional oat crops. What a lot of people don't realize is that it's sometimes sprayed right before harvest as a drying agent — meaning it can end up in the oats themselves. As more research has raised questions about glyphosate in food, we started looking more closely at where our oats were coming from.

Rabbits are sensitive little souls, and we hold ourselves to the same standard we'd want for our own fluffle. If we wouldn't feel good about it, it doesn't go in a Loppy Buns Shop treat. Simple as that.

 

How we sourced the new oats

 

After a lot of research, we found our answer with Azure Standard — a company known for sourcing high-quality organic and natural foods directly from farms that meet strict standards. Their oat flour is certified organic and grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or pre-harvest glyphosate applications.

Loppy Buns Shop started because I couldn't find treats I actually trusted — overpriced, full of fillers, with no transparency about what was in them. Every treat I make is still hand-pressed, slowly dehydrated, and made in small batches with only natural, rabbit-safe ingredients.

Switching to organic, glyphosate-free oat flour from Azure Standard is part of that same promise. I'll always be looking for ways to make these treats cleaner and better, because your buns deserve nothing less.
